Alfred Nobel's Dynamite Party Mix Vol.1

Today I spent the morning working through Rosetta Stone chapters 4.1 to 5.0.  I realize that I have a long way to go if I'm ever going to be comfortably fluent.  Still, progress is progress.

On today's agenda was a trip to the Alfred Nobel Dynamite Factory Museum in Paulilles, just south of Port-Vendres.  I was pretty excited to go but when we got there we were disappointed to find that 90% of the site is still being renovated.  Since the exposition was very limited we stayed long enough to read about the chronology of the site's development and to see a list of the various accidents and explosions that were recorded over the history of its operation (it was approximately 1 per year).

Our failed trip opened up the afternoon so after lunch I decided to take a long bike ride.  I rode southeast to Le Racou and then turned north all the way to the St.Cyprien Marina.  The first leg of the trip to Le Racou was fine and then as I turned around to head north the wind began to blow.  I found out later that the winds were gusting over 80 kph.  What was initially a flat ride turned into a massive fight against the wind.  When I got to St. Cyprien it was more touristy than I expected and I was tired from riding into the wind.  I didn't stay long and i was back on the road south after maybe only 20 minutes of wandering.

I was looking forward to being downwind for the return trip home and then the wind changed and I found myself riding directly into the wind again.  When I was done I checked google maps and totaled the distance to 27.4 km.  I was pretty tired at the end of the day, so ate a little salad and some sausage and went to bed early.
